'Chione' C.G. Van Tubergen?
| From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: Even though she was very beautiful her history is a bit obscure. Apollo figures either as her lover or her ancestor, but she became so conceited over her beauty that she compared it to the beauty of the goddess Artemis herself. That was too much for a jealous goddess and forthwith Chione was slain. The flower has just been released this year and this and the following variety has not been grown in America to our knowledge. The standards are white with soft blue veining while the falls are delicately netted grayish-brown. Parentage not recorded. Early bloom. 15". $5.00.
