'Big Issue' (James Burch, R. 1993). Seedling #45-2. BB, height 18" (46 cm), Early bloom. Standards maroon (RHS 187D); falls maroon black (187A); beards bronze (163B). Seedling #3816: (Steinhauer seedling #7305 x 'Dark Ritual') X 'Merry Monarch'. Burch Iris, Comanche Acres 1994.

From AIS Bulletin #293 April 1994 Introducing BIG ISSUE (BB) Maroon standards, maroon-black falls with a bronze beard. This iris has always bloomed in border class at home (16-18") and in guest gardens. Its dark blooms with closed standards and slightly flaring falls appear on 2 branches and a spur. Multiplies and blooms well like MISS NELLIE. $20.00. Burch Iris Garden.
