From AIS Bulletin #273 April 1989 Introducing BLACKBEARD (Weiler 89) BB 25" L-VL. A flower of startling contrast, this is palest blue-violet with a shocking black-violet beard, each hair of the beard black to the tip to give fully saturated color. The tailored flower has heavy substance and is near the upper limits of size for BB. Stalks with three branches produce 7 buds. The plant has good vigor, is modest of increase and fertile both ways.
