From AIS Bulletin #153, April 1959. Co-Introducing PINATA (R. E. KLEINSORGE) 26", BORDER IRIS (#371E); (Chamois X Cascade Splendor) X Cascade Splendor. Remember, from down Mexico way, the gayly decorated basket, or Pinata, which is hung from the rafter at Christmas-time, and that the kids hit with bats and sticks until it splits and showers theln with gifts? Well, when you break open your Piggy Bank and shower us with "pesos" you'll get a gift for your garden that will spark it with Fiesta Frivolity for years and years to come. Breeders Beware! You'll have difficulty trying to figure out how this one can be improved...and it's different! The flowers are in proportion to its height and are wide and ruffled; standards are the clearest pastel violet or lavender, domed and closed; and contrast sharply with the falls which are flaring with molten gold flowing over a buffy ground. Stems are branched and the foliage short. HC'58 as #432. Net $10.00. Melrose Gardens/Raleigh Hills. |
