From Fleur de Lis catalog, 1965: SWING LOW (Fred Crandall 1965) M. VL. 26 in. (Swingtime x Crinkled Sunset sib.) From tall breeding, this must be classed as a border Iris because of its height, but it is one that would be welcome regardless of height, and as a border Iris, I am sure you'll agree that it is one of the best as well as one of the most beautiful. It's a real "wow" type Iris with utterly delightful flowers of vivid Jonquil yellow, wonderful flaring form and the most heavily laced and ruffled edges we've seen on any Iris. An icy, satiny white area below the heavy Jonquil yellow beard further highlights the flower. An excellent grower with well-branched stalks that carry three to four flowers at a time in perfect placement. No. 59SL. H .C. 1964. $20.00. |
