Caulis pluriflorus ; foliis ensiformibus viridibus brevior v. ea subaequans. Spathae ovato-lanceolatae, perigonii tubum superantes, a basi ad medium herbaceae, apicem versus scariosae. Perigonii tubus ovarium vix aequans; laciniis exterioribus a basi supra medium juxta costam barbatis ; oblongo-obovatis, basin versus sensim attenuatis, caeterum glabris ; laciniis interioribus exteriorum longitudine, ovatis ; sensim in unguem linearem attenuatis. Filamenta antheram paullo superantia. Stigmata biloba, lobis apice truncato-rotundatis crenulatis, marginibus sese tegentibus.

Rhizoma I. germanicae. Perigonii laciniae 4 — 5 Cm. longae, saturate caeruleae, basin versus lutescentes. n Turkestania prope Wernoje in valle fluvii Almatinka (4000'), legit

Iris germanica et lurida, quibus species nostra affinis, dignoscuntur : caule foliis longiore, perigonii laciniis interioribus subito in unguem contractis ; stigmatis lobis divaricatis acutis ; spathis ad apicem herbaceis.

1880. a. Eine blühende Pflanze ; verkleinert, b. Rhizom mit Blättern, etwas verkleinert und der Blüthenstand in natürlicher Grösse, c. Einer der blattartigen Griffeläste mit Narbe und dem unter dem Griffelaste liegenden Staubfaden, natürliche Grösse, d. Braktee, Fruchtknoten der Länge nach durch-geschnitten, nebst 2 Griffelästen und

2 Staubfäden, natürliche Grösse. Die schöne Iris, welche unsere beistehende Tafel darstellt, hat A. Regel in den Gebirgen des Ilithales entdeckt. Dieselbe ist der I. germanica und I. lurida zunächst verwandt, unterscheidet sich aber schon von weitem durch die breiten grasgrünen Blätter, die bis 5 Cm. und darüber breit werden, — durch die Brakteen, die länger als die Blumenröhre und vorn häutig, durch die allmälig in den langen linearen Nagel verschmälerten innern Blumenblätter und vor allen durch die vorn abgestutzt abgerundeten und hier auch fein gezähnelten und mit den innern Seitenrändern sich deckenden Narbenlappen. einigen getrockneten Exemplaren früher gegebene Beschreibung nach der frischen Pflanze abgeändert. Eine nicht empfindliche schöne Staude für's freie Land, die auch unsere Winter in Petersburg ohne Schädigung überdauerte. Die Grundfarbe der Blumen ist ein schönes blau violett, der untere Theil der Blumenblätter auf hellerm Grunde mit bräunlich-gelber und auch blauer Zeichnung. (E. R.)

2 stamens, natural size. The beautiful Iris, which represents our board has beistehende, A. rule in the mountains of Ilithales discovered. The same of I. germanica and I. lurida is initially used, but differs from afar by the broad grass-green leaves up to 5 cm. and it is wide, - by the bracts, which, by the gradually narrowed in the long linear nail inner petals and above all by the front truncate rounded and also finely denticulate and side edges with the inner covering longer than the flowers tube and front membranous itself stigma lobes.

some dried specimens earlier description given by the fresh plant changed. A non-sensitive beautiful perennial for open ground, which survived our winter in Petersburg without damage. The basic color of the flowers is a beautiful blue-violet, the lower part of the petals on hellerm reason with brownish-yellow and blue drawing. (E. R.)
