Iris (Xiphion) colchicus.— Amongst the bulbs and other plants kindly sent to me last autumn by Dr. Regel this plant has flowered in the open border, as also in pots in the greenhouse. It resembles I. persica, but is wholly of a soft yellow colour. Tulipa biflora, white variety, and the golden T. triphylla, have also been quite gay with blossoms; and Corydalis Ledebouriana is both distinct and effective. Its broad, soft, glaucous pinnate foliage alone is ornamental, to make it welcome for a pot plant or a sheltered border. F. W. Burbidge, Trinity College Gardens, Dublin.
