Henri Correvon, Floraire Nursery

The AIS 1939 Checklist notes: Henri Correvon, Floraire Nursery, Ave. Petit-Senn 50, Chene-Bourg, Nr. Geneva, Switzerland. Mons. Henri Correvon (1855-1939), was considered the world's greatest specialist upon Alpine plants of Switzerland. Author of many botanical and gardening books including one on Iris (in French) in collaboration with Mons. Masse. His son and grandson were associated with him in the nursery and his alpine gardens were deservedly famous. He created the Linnaea Alpine Garden of Bourg saint Pierre on Grand Saint Bernard Road and received the R.H.S. Veiotch Memorial Gold Medal in 1924. Floraire lists many seeds of Iris species.
