From the Farr 1927 catalog: Standards coppery vinous purple (1-171) shading lighter at the base, with brown reticulations; Falls a dark crimson-brown (4-166) with heavy reticulations; beard yellow, stigmas buff, shaded violet. Large flower with incurved or dome-shaped standards and with wide-spreading falls
