From Wing Seed catalog, 1919: CAPRICE- (Sq.) Semi-early. Very vigorous. Very large flowers of dark violet-rose. Coloring very distinct. Twenty-four inches. 50c.

"Caprice (Vilmorin, 1904). Rosy red purple flowers with falls slightly deeper than standards; beard bluish white. Flowers of good form; dependable bloomer. Vigorous. Has an odor of grape Juice. Two feet. Late flowering $0.25." [Longfield Iris Farm catalog, 1930].
