Awaiting original catalog description |
LOUISE BLAKE (Smith) has been referred to as an improved AMIGO. I do not believe this describes the iris from a color standpoint as the standards are a much lighter blue and the falls have much more of a deep violet cast than AMIGO. The contrast between the standards and falls, however, is most effective. [McKee, William (1943). Noteworthy New Iris in New England, American Iris Society Bulletin, 90(July 1943), 13.] |

LOUISE BLAKE (Kenneth Smith) -A most striking neglecta that is almost identical to the appearance of 'Amigo'. Upon close comparison, the flower of Louise Blake appeared larger. [Clifford W. Benson (Mo.), “Varietal Comments,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 110 (July 1948): 95.] |
