From AIS Bulletin #282 July 1991 Introducing ORANGE PETALS (Niswonger '91) Sdlg. IB 13-88: Oriental Blush X unknown. I have to say that it looks very much like a Marmalade Skies seedling. There is a question in my mind as to whether the seed could have gotten mixed or there was a mixup transplanting. It's an IB, 25", and starts to bloom with the last of our SDBs, so early to midseason in bloom. This one stands out from all the rest with its bold orange color. It's a bitone orange with the stds. exhibiting some pink with the orange, and the falls are deep orange. I believe this is a new color in this class that you will enjoy, and its vigor will present many blooms. It may be fertile. I have gotten seed from it but have not bloomed any seedlings yet. $25.00. Cape iris Gardens. |
