Awaiting original catalog description
One Highly Commended award was made at the first show[1939 - held jointly by the American Iris Society and the Horticultural Society of New York at the N. Y. World's Fair]. This was given to Smith's seedling X-62, now named Pink Ruffles. It is a very dainty light pink intermediate with blossoms that are beautifully ruffled and waved. Since it is extremely floriferous and rapid of increase it should prove a valuable iris for pink effect in the border. [Cassebeer, Fred (1939), Reports of Regional Vice-Presidents(Reg. 2), American Iris Society Bulletin 76(January 1940), 13.]
.
For those who wish a bright spot of lovely lavender-pink for the front of the perennial border, this iris is made to order. Its greatest virtue, however, is that it will produce masses of delightful ruffled pink flowers every year without any coddling. [Douglas, Geddes (1942). More Variety Comments, 1942. American Iris Society Bulletin, 88(January 1943), 63.]

From Western Iris Garden catalog, 1948: PINK RUFFLES (Smith, 1940). M. 28" Solid color in lilac-pink is airily tossed by heavy fluting and ruffles in the flower's flaring form . Unstinted flower production on shorter than average stems makes an effective color mass. Classed as intermediate. AM 1942. $1.00.
