(IB) 'Princess Marygold'
1939, Sass-Whiting
'Marygold' (
Hans Peter Sass-
Mrs. C. Whiting, R. 1938). IB. Early bloom. Color Class S7L.
'King Midas' x
'King Tut'. Whiting 1939.
Princess Marygold, a child of King Midas, approaches being an apricot self, so smoothly is it blended. Like
Mary Geddes, it has red brushed on the falls but as a smooth, soft-toned overlay, without veining. Substance very good, falls rounded and semi-flaring, size apparently medium, not ruffled. A newcomer well worth watching. [Lucy W. Tinley, "Midwest Iris Notes",
A.I.S. Bulletin 75 (December 1939): 18.]
