From Childs catalog, 1931: New pure white double Japanese Iris. Compared to Gold Bound, the flowers are larger with lemon yellow midrib instead of orange yellow. The foliage is a deeper green and more graceful. A distinct improvement over Gold Bound. Heretofor the best white Japanes Iris. $7.00/dozen.
From Wayside Gardens catalog, 1954: BETTY F. HOLMES - Each 75c, Three $1.80, Doz. $5.65. Double. One of the most gorgeous Iris. Snow-white flowers of heavy waxlike texture with cream styles and lemon-yellow throat area. No garden is complete without this fine variety.
 
From Flowerfield Bulb Farms catalog 1956: BETTY F. HOLMES (Childs). The most luxuriant flower of all the white varieties. The falls, broad and overlapping, are held somewhat horizontallv. The standards, deeply waved, arc equally large in size. The styles and style branches form a high rounded cluster at the pinnacle of the bloom. A generous hud producer, there is a succession of flowers from early midseason until late. Tall growing, well over 4 feet high, it attracts immediate attention in the garden.
