From Childs catalog, 1931: Petunia violet, conspicuous yellow center surrounded with blue cast. Large.
From Flowerfield Bulb Farms catalog 1956: CLARICE CHILDS (Childs). Deep black-purple buds unfurl to a stunning dark mahogany-red. The falls arc so closely set and deeply ruffled that the flowers appear to be double; the large standards are pointed and held upright. The style columns and crests are dark red. Blooms early and generously. Each $.5.00. Three $6.00. Doz. $18.00.
