| From Childs catalog, 1921: Rich claret red with orange blotches, surrounding same is a halo of blue radiating out into heavy lines. Standards light claret and white. Petaloid stigmas tipped and bordered pale claret. Very large flowers. $2.60.
| From Marx Gardens catalog, 1955: DATEDOGU-KOTAKU (Extravagant Display) Each 2.50. We have seen nothing else like this bizarre variety. The large flowers are foxglove red variegated with the widest white veins of all. The blooms remind us of the well known barber pole.
