(JI) Dinner Plate Japanese
1950s + , Marx et al
'Series Name "Dinner Plate Series" This was originally a series of Irises promoted by Walter Marx in the 1950s. Marx talked about his Iris as Dinner Plate Iris but did not include that in their names. Recently in 2022, 2023, ? new cultivar names have been added which are prefacing the cultivar name with Dinner Plate as if it were a registered trademark. The Marx irises were registered but the newer Irises have yet to be registered. A question is are these old Marx irises that have been renamed or are they new creations yet to be described and registered.. The following Names yet to be registered have appeared recently in catalog offerings:
The following Nursery catalogs have offered one or more of these Irises:
Breck's, K. van Bougundien, Vesey's, Dutch Bulbs,
NatureHills,
Phoenix Perennials,
