'Enchanting Melody' (Rex Rich, R. 1966). Seedling K60-12A. JI, height 32" (81 cm), Midseason late bloom. Color Class-V1Lcm, Light mallow pink self; some yellow markings and deeper lilac-pink styles. Seedling W-17 X 'Geisha Gown'. Melrose 1967. Honorable Mention 1968.

| From Melrose Gardens catalog 1968: ENCHANTING MELODY (Mrs. R.A. Rich). If you have a discerning eye you will immediately notice the salient features of this uncommonly beautiful iris. The color, of course will be the first to be noted; a full flower ecstacy of mallow pink with small yellow signals and lilac pink styles. The well composed flowers have petals of such width that all six overlap entirely leaving no empty spaces or holes in the flower. The edges of the petals undulate with billowy furbelows and yet the flowers never relinquish their nearly horizontal pose. The plant is comparatively small and the stems strong and around 30" in height. HC'66. NET 15.00. |

Over the past three blooming seasons this has been the favorite Japanese Iris of the many people who have seen it. The color is mallow pink with small yellow signals and lilac styles. The well composed flowers have petals of such width that all 6 overlap entirely leaving no empty spaces or holes in the flower. The petal edges are very ruffled and billow fully yet petals are held horizontally. Plants are comparatively small yet the stems are strong. HC '66. JC '68. HM '68. |
