'Hekiun' ( Toyokazu Ichie by Society for Japanese Irises, R. 1992) Seedling N-7A. JI (3 falls), 30" (75 cm), Midseason bloom. Standards blue (RHS 89B) shading to white at center; style arms blue (89B); falls blue (96A), sharp white lines often forked at endings about 1.25 cm from blue (89B) edge, signal yellow. "Mezame" X "Hekihou". Kamo Nursery, Japan, 1989.

From AIS Bulletin #301 April 1996 Introducing Hekiun (Blue Cloud) (Ichie 1987). Diploid, 3 falls, M. Beautifully formed 6-1/2" flowers with medium violet-blue standards and falls close to true medium blue enhanced by sharp white lines. The finest Japanese iris with white lines that I have seen. 2 branches. Mezame x Hekih. $30. Eartheart Gardens.
