'Island Paradise' (Walter Marx, R. 1956) Seedling 55-502. JI (double), 42" (107 cm), Early bloom. Bicolor. Red-purple (near amaranth) surrounding white center. 'Miyuki-Guruma' X 'Choseidan'. Marx 1956.

From Marx Gardens catalog, 1958: ISLAND PARADISE (Marx 1956) Each $6.00. This is one of the most distinctive seedlings selected from our Butterfly Series. The crisp, flaring white flowers have falls and standards edged dark reddish violet (Patriarch) with an occasional speckling inside the colored borders. Medium size double blooms held well above erect foliage on 3-foot stems. Midseason.
From Tempo Two AU catalog, 1974: ISLAND PARADISE (Marx '56 USA) Double. M. Vivid color combination. 7" blooms, each white petal has Y," band of magenta rose around edges. Bright gold signals. White style arms with slight magenta tips. Always a popular variety and one of the best for indoor decoration. $3.50.
