'Gay One' (Lenora Mathews, R. 1951) AH/LA, 36" (91 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards white, rose-violet striped; Falls rose-violet, bright gold signal patch. Seedling x 'Contrast'. Milliken 1951.

From Milliken Gardens catalog, 1952: GAY ONE (Lenora Rutledge Mathews) A symphony of rose-violet and gold, this enchanting Louisiana has sepals of rose-violet, and a wide stripe of this same color is laid, as if by magic, upon the white petals, extending almost the entire length of the petal. A brilliant gold signal patch adds the final touch of perfection. 3 ft. $12.50.
