LAWRENCE E. CRAIG Funeral services for Lawrence E. Craig, 70, Salix, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Salix Community Methodist Church. The Rev. D. E. Carmady will officiate and burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery under the direction of the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Robert C. Irish Post No. 706 of the American Legion. Pallbearers will be Harry Jorgensen, Henry Christensen, Frank Brown, Jack Lilly, Waldon Sargissen and Art Fredericksen. Mr. Craig died Friday at an Onawa, Iowa, hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Craig was a rural mail carrier for 38 years, retiring in April 1962. He was born May 22, 1897 at Rutledge, Mo. He lived at Salix since childhood. He married Mary L. Beymer Aug. 16, 1922, at Hornick. She died May 20, 1959. He married Laura Jensen Nov. 5, 1960, at Salix. Mr. Craig was a member of the Salix Community Methodist Church and Robert C. Irish Post 706, American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I. He grew fancy peonies and other varieties of flowers as a hobby, Survivors include the widow; a son, Joseph C. Craig of Clinton, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Cecile Hoepfner of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two step-sons, Walter Shannon of Salix and Erving Shannon of Des Moines; three step-daughters, Mrs. Luella Vondrak of Sioux City, Mrs. Alma Purucker of Waterburg, Neb., and Mrs. Gladys Francisco of Hubbard; six brothers, Carl of Tucson, Ariz., John D. and Robert, both of Sioux City, and Ray, Arza and Thomas, all of Sloan; six sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Boston, Mrs. Apal Stanley, Mrs. Dorothy Stanley, and Mrs. Cora Carnes, all of Sioux City, Mrs. Ethel Johnson of Clinton Hills, Mo., and Mrs. Margaret Paul of Sloan; five grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
