Hybridizer Augustin Pyramus DeCandolle

Also spelled Augustin Pyrame de Candolle (1778-1841); was a Swiss botanist who obtained the title of doctor of medicine at the University of Paris with a trial on the medical properties of plants. Disciple of Lamarck, he then helped him to recast the "Flore Française ou Descriptions Succinctes de Toutes les Plantes qui Croissent Naturellement en France, disposées selon une nouvelle méthode d'analyse, et précédées par un exposé des principes élémentaires de botanique; 3ème édition" (see Gallica.fr).
