Hybridizer Fred Dyer

Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

In a letter to Alberta Richardons in late 1958, Mr. Dyer stated that he had grown seedlings since 1946, that he bloomed 2000 seedlings a year, that he had seedlings at Portland for the A.I.S. Convention in the following year, and that he would have some at the Trial Garden in Hamilton (Ontario) in the next season. This suggests an operation as large as any in Canada and also one directed by as enterprising an irisarian as was to be found in the East. Mr. Dyer began hybridizing in the late forties or early fifties . He was a member of the C.I.S. since the late forties and had seedlings in the Trial beds in Hamilton in 1958.
