Hybridizer O. A. & O. L. Kummer
Preston, Ontario, Canada
Oliver A (1881-1982) (nl:AIS'59), father of Oliver L. (pronounced "Coo-mer") was an ardent horticulturist who helped found the Preston Horticultural Society, (of which my mother was a long-time member - GS). Many felt the annual flower shows were a sight to behold; I still remember seeing the many Irises that were a highlight of these shows. Also, his house on Hamilton St. showed his love for all plants. [George Schaller (GS) to DRM: 2099.12.31) He was the CIS Librarian for and a Director. (CIS-N v27 n2 p22; v36 n.4 p.15)
Oliver ‘Ollie’ L. Kummer, of Vine St. Cambridge (Preston), Ontario, inherited his father's love of plants, and kept his dad's traditions alive as long as he could. [George Schaller to DRM: 2009.12.31)
