George Leo Leary Sr. absolutely loved to garden and grow exquisite plants & flowers, especially his prized Irises. He would cross pollinate them by hand in order to create hybridized versions with unique colors, patterns and pedal shapes.

His registration with the American Iris Society in 1955 was a tall bearded class iris with a plicata flower pattern, which he named
'Multi-Ruffles'
