Hybridizer Tom Munger (1915-1973)

Enid, Oklahoma, USA

From The Bulletin of the American Iris Society No. 212(January 1974): The untimely death of Tom Munger, Jr., on February 19, 1973, stunned his many friends in the iris world. His love of beauty led him into hybridizing and creating unusually lovely irises, and his popular CHEROKEE PRINCESS and WOODLAND SHADOWS set the stage for what can come in many promising bicolor lines with unusual attributes. Hopefully these will be carried on to honor his life and work. He was president of the North Central Iris Society at the time of his death.
