Hybridizer: Murray D. Smith

In addition to growing iris by 1947, and carrying out some hybridizing beginning in 1948, Smith (1900- 1987), submitted numerous articles to both the Canadian Iris Society (CIS) and the American Iris Society (AIS) Bulletins. In addition to be being an honourary CIS Director, he became the Society’s historian about 1976, writing articles not only about the trends in current iris culture, the Society’s past, but also about Canadian hybridizers.
