Major Fred C. Stern was an amateur gardener and Iris breeder. He was President of the Iris Society of England in 1932 and 1936 then Vice President for 1934, 1935, 1937 and 1938. Received the Cory Cup in 1928. [Information taken from AIS Check List, 1939]
