Mrs. Margaret Van Slyke suffered a heart attack on April 27, 1960, while working in her beloved iris garden. She was a member of the AIS, the local Southern Michigan Iris Society, as well as the Dwarf Iris Society, and did much to promote the love of iris in the area. Several years ago she introduced KYLE and CURTIS A, and last year registered five lovely new ones. Our local iris society is presenting the book Garden Irises to her local library in her memory.—LEE ARMIGER. [AISB 158(Apr 1960): 18.]
