Company founded in 1822 as a wholesale grower of Tulips, Daffodils, Bulbous Irises etc. About 1925 they established buld farms near Norfolk, Virginia for growing Daffodils and later in Maryland for growing Bulbous Irises. The company was probably the largest exporter of bulbs in Holland. Mr. Van Waveren went to England in 1841 and took up hybridizing and in his first 25 years of work occupied himself most with Narcissi, producing large trumpet varieties. In 1921 his nurseries produced 850,000 Spanish Iris bulbs, and 150,000 other Irises.
