Hybridizer Captain Francis Kingdon Ward (1885-1958)
English botanist, explorer and plant collector. He went on about 25 expeditions over a period of nearly fifty years, exploring Tibet, North Western China, Burma (now Myanmar) and Assam (now part of North Eastern India. Received the Loder Rhododendron Cup in 1931 and Victoria Medal of Honour in 1932.
