Vernon Wood has won the Mitchell Award for Pacific Coast Native Iris five time; for 'Mimsey in 1988, 'Pink Cupid' in 2000, 'Sea Admiral' in 2003, 'Raspberry Dazzler' in 2004, and 'Wind and Cheese' in 2008. He was honored by the American Iris Society with the Hybridizer Award in 2003.
