William J. Moffat

Awarded Distinguished Service Award 1958

William Moffat was the founder of the Canadian Iris Society (CIS) when Region 16 of the American Iris Society was organized under that name in 1946. He served as the RVP for Region 16 from 1944 to 1948. From 1946 to 1956 he was the only Canadian on the Directorate of the American Iris Society (AIS). He was largely responsible for interesting the CIS to act as host for the AIS’ Annual Meeting which was centred at Hamilton in 1955. From the Canadian iris Society Newsletter, November 1958.
