In this Encyclopedia we have a page for each person responsible for a new Iris name, in other words hybridizers and botanists. For hybridizers there is a list of all their registrations and introductions which link to the named iris's page (A Cultivar page). For botanists, there is a list of their authored taxonomic names with links to a page for each species, variety, etc. These pages for Iris people are all listed in the Main web within the Bio subweb. Main.Bio.InfoHybridizer.
The hybridizer page is an introduction for other irisarians to the person who did the hard work of hybridizing. There will always be room for essays about the individual. Hopefully the hybridizers will share what their their goals were and how well they met them. We will try to include notes on their achievemnts as iris lovers, Awards they have won and publications they have authored. So far there are between 3,000 to 4,000 hybridizers listed, many of whose pages need further development.
How can you help?
We enjoy seeing pictures of hybridizers during their iris-years. You can help find or take images of current hybridizers and their gardens. Copies of catalogs that have introduced their irises are linked to on the listing of Catalog Pages. If you can provide additional information or images please contact Bobpries3@gmail.com for help in adding this information.
