    • First President and one of the initial forces behind the founding of AIS. He was a visionary creating much of the structure of the organization, for example the traveling AIS Library. He was a prodigious writer in Horticultural Journals about Iris and wrote the book 'The Iris"

    • Early hybridizer who started the development of the Tall-bearded Irises, She was also a botanical illustrator and one of the founders of the American Iris Society.
