Honorary Awards
If one asked the average Irisarian, "What is the highest award given by Iris societies?" many would say the Dykes Medal. But the Dykes Medals are given in several countries and really honor an Iris, although certainly the hybridizer feels some pride in their baby wins. Honorary awards celebrate the contributions and dedication of individuals that have furthered the prominence of Irises. Whether these individuals were administrators, scientists, nurserymen, or hybridizers they exhibited a personal achievement above the expected.
