Missing Iris Cultivars' Pages Project
One of the goals of the Iris Encyclopedia, aka as the Iris Wiki, is to have individual pages for every named cultivar. As part of this, we are searching for cultivars we may have missed. As you might imagine, this is not straightforward. How do you find something you don't know is missing?
One way we have identified missing cultivars is by comparison of the wiki contents with the Iris Register online. This project is a way to collect the missing cultivar to see if we can learn from them.
Note that recent missing cultivars are to be expected. The 2022 Registrations are currently being added from the Iris Register and from the 2022 R&I. The
2023 Registrations are being created from online websites and catalogs; their Iris Register information will be added when it becomes available. If you add 2022 or 2023 cultivars to this page, please label them with the years. Many of the 2022 and 2023 Registrations may be found by searching text for
"awaiting registration information".
Please add cultivars or lists of cultivars below. You may add them as attachments, add them in the comment box, or add them to the list below.
- J. Owings Rebert - Siberian hybridizer from Maryland. His Wiki hybridizer page listed 20 cultivars, 19 of them Siberians. However, the online Iris Register listed 48 cultivars. The attached list from the Register has been marked "Have" to show those that were already present. 04JAN2023 - all 'missing' cultivars have been added to the WIKI and linked to his hybridizer page. Nothing further to do.
- M. E. Kitton (Maurice) - Siberian hybridizer from England. In November 2020 it was discovered that 4 cultivars of his were missing from the wiki. Pages have been created on the WIKI and linked to the hybridizer's page. Nothing further to do.
- John & Galen Carter - JI and SPEC hybridizers from England introducing together and individually. List of missing cultivars attached. Pages have been created on the WIKI and linked to the hybridizer's page. Nothing further to do.
- Nerissa Marshall - JI and SPEC/SPX hybridizer from Australia. List of missing cultivars attached. These have been added to the WIKI and linked to the hybridizer's page. Nothing further to do.
