Regional Fall Meetings for 2026

Every year many of the AIS Regions have a Fall Meeting filled with talks by well-known irisarians (many of the talks are called Judges Training; but, we know they are more entertaining and educational than that), opportunities to see old friends and meet new ones, and frequently a chance to add more irises. To help you locate meetings in your Region or nearby ones, here is a list of those for 2026 and links to their webpages.

R20 has no regional conventions planned. It has been many years since
a convention was held in R20. Although gardens for growing guest
plants may be available, funding, manpower, and weather present
barriers to organizing a convention.

For the past several years R20 has organized garden tours (every May).
Unfortunately, weather the past 2 years has been devastating, leading
to cancellation of tours. For 2026 all garden tours and all scheduled
exhibition shows were cancelled after severe drought and a winter of
70 degree days followed by snow and cold in April and May decimated
the iris.

Nevertheless, R20 does host guest plants. The Loomis iris test garden
will accept rhizomes from hybridizers July through August, has
recently been renovated and expanded, is maintained year-round by a
large group of volunteers, and is always open to the public. AIS
judges evaluate performance of the plants in the garden and publish a
detailed report in the fall. Judges training is also scheduled in the
garden at least 2x per year. The Loomis garden is the country’s only
high-altitude iris test garden and offers hybridizers an opportunity
to test their plants in extreme conditions. If you would like more

AIS Region 5 held Spring Regional April 17 -18, 2026, hosted by Oconee Valley Iris Society in Milledgeville, GA. It was an excellent meeting with good bloom, varied Judges’ Training, excellent presenters, good food, and wonderful fellowship. We were delighted to have Bonnie Nichols join us for the weekend.

Region 5 Fall 2026 meeting will be hosted by Piedmont Carolina Iris Society in South Carolina, October 9-10, 2026. If anyone would like further details, I will be glad to send them as they develop. Please feel free to contact me.
