Section Crossiris. (George Rodionenko, 2009) Rodionenko's diagnosis in Bot. Zhurn. (Moscow & Leningrad) 94(3): 434. 2009 [Mar 2009] 94(3): 434 2009. Originally described as a Subgenus in The Genus Iris by Spach in Ann. Sci. Nat., Bot. ser. 3, 5: 110. 1846. This is roughly equivalent to Subsection Lophiris in Mathew's Systematic Treatment of the genus. In other words the crested Irises.
