'Ariel' ( Olive Murrell, R. 1924) Midseason bloom. Color Class-B7L. Orpington 1924; Sheets 1928; Berry 1927; Tip Top 1938; Wasserman 1938; Journal of the Royal Horticultural Society 53: Pt. 1, 137,; January 1928 Trials and 55: Pt. 1, 132-140, January 1930, Trials. and 57: Pt. 1, 70-74 1932 Trials.

Note: Originally registered as a "Dwarf" prior to establishment of the BB class. Now listed in both the MDB and BB 'Ariel' webs. Sometimes misspelled 'Arial'.

From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: ARIEL (Murrell). Light violet self. Yellow beard. The flower is of good shape and color and is a profuse bloomer. Height 15 to 18 inches. Good erect grower. $10.00
From Treholme Gardens catalog 1930: ARIEL (Murrell 1924) E.82, G.84, 36", M. S. A clear bright harebell blue self; very sweetly scented. A tall erect grower, very free flowering. A unique and lovely shade of pale blue.
