I. lutescens ). Barr & Sons before 1912.
Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station, Memoir 100 gives the following description:
"Color effect a light yellow blended self; size small to fair; form short, open, rounded; flowering habit free; dwarf bearded class; height 8 inches; not branched. A flower of poor substance; frail texture; creped surface; fair fragrance; medium lasting quality. Excellent for early border planting.
Standards brilliant straw yellow, reticulated with purplish; carriage cupped, arched; blade oval, notched, undulate, frilled, revolute, creped; size 1 1/4 in. wide, 2 in long. Falls brilliant straw yellow shaded and blotched with yellowish citrine and pale purple-drab, brownish reticulations on haft; carriage drooping to recurved; wedge-shaped, convex, spathulate; smooth; size 1 in. wide, 2 in. long. Minor parts; beard very fine, sparse, projecting, conspicuous, orange-colored; haft broad, channeled; reticulations broad, widely spaced; style-branches narrow, overarching; crst large, fringed; pollen plentiful; spathe-valves green, one-eighth scarious, inflated, keeled. Growth moderate; increase rapid; habit very compact; foliage stiff, leaves broad, glaucous green; 1 bloom to a sheath; stalk erect.
