Help! Save those seedling images
The Iris Encyclopedia is endeavoring to create illustrated pedigrees for recent cultivar registrations. This works well when all parents are registered cultivars with images. But often siblings or seedlings are used as parents. We are lucky when the hybridizers saves an image of these seedlings. Often seedlings are shared between hybridizers for breeding. If you are a hybridizer utilizing seedlings in your parentages History will thank you for saving an image. We will create special galleries for each hybridizer's seedlings and you can attach your images to your gallery. To see how this works take a look at Paul Black's Seedling gallery
https://wiki.irises.org/Main/PaulBlackSeedlings. Paul can sign in to the wiki and attach a seedling image. The file name under the attachments provides the seedling number and it can then be used to illustrate that seedling in a pedigree. I can create a page for you. This may help keep track of those seedling images. For more information contact me at

Questions:
Are Species images important in a pedigree?
Yes, When possible it is valuable to see an image of the species flower/plant used as a parent. Species may come in various colors and forms. not every individual of a species will pass on the same traits to its offspring.
Are Sibling pictures acceptable?
Yes and No! A sibling is not in the direct line of the pedigree but it is useful when comparing descendants of a specific cross. There will be categories showing offspring/descendants of crosses.
