'Duchy Blue' (
Rosewarne Experimental Horticultural Station, R. 1983) Seedling RW62. Bulbous Iris xiphium hybrid (Dutch iris), 28in (70cm), Early to midseason bloom. Standards violet (HCC 88D); falls violet (HCC 91C). Flower 4inches (10cm) across. Vigorous and tall; markedly disease-free; increases well. Good bulbs with tough brown tunics. May be used for bulb production and forcing or for long-term outdoor flower production where crop may remain unlifted for up to 5 years. Of unknown origin, it first flowered in 1962. Registered via KAVB.
