From AIS Bulletin #293 April 1994 Introducing I. pseudacorus X I. ensata (Hatsuho)-This interspecies hybrid was developed in Japan by Kamo Nurseries. (This iris is not registered and "Hatsuho" should be treated as a seedling designation and not a name.) Kamo believes this is the first pseudacorus x ensata which is both pod and pollen fertile. The three pale yellow falls are arching and pendant, the small pale yellow standards are upright, the styles are simple without florets or curls. The most dramatic aspect of the flower is a bright yellow signal bordered by a deep red halo which radiates slightly into veins on the falls. For us it has been short (18"), has had one branch-3 buds per stalk, and in spite of light green foliage has been vigorous. Proceeds from this iris go to the 1996 Siberian and Species Convention in Massachusetts. $40.00. Joe Pye Weed's Garden.
This type of cross was later named pseudatas
