From David R. Kinnish, Kansas and Missouri Gardens in 1946, The Bulletin of the American Iris Society No. 103, (October 1946): "I saw Paltec here for the first time. It is a beautiful little blue iris, no taller than 15 inches and makes a fine companion to the old 'Sherwin Wright', a bright little yellow of about the same height."
Paltec blooms nicely in my zone 6 garden, Los Alamos,NM. Betty Ann Gunther."
From Adamgrove catalog, 1997: "PALTEC (Denis, 1928) Bearded-crested hybrid. An unusual hybrid between a crested iris and bearded iris from the days when they tried crossing anything (before they were told the crosses wouldn't work!). Violet blue self. Very narrow beard, ending in a crest. Somewhat flattened form. Elegant and different. France. $4.00
