Alan McMurtrie crossed the Armenian I. reticulata caucasica (from lake Sevan) with an unregistered blue hybrid from William van Eeden. In my opinion it is far better then all other traditional cultivars. Flowers are very large, with bluish-purple standards and very deep purple falls marked with bright orange-yellow ridge surrounded by white stripes. Armenian Caucasus Retic x {Van Eeden Blue & 'J.S.
