'Yoru No Akari' ( Hiroshi Shimizu by Carol Warner, 2011) SPEC-X (Pseudata); 38", Midseason bloom. Falls rose over a cream background, deep wine eyelash pattern extending almost to the edge of the fall; slightly darker rose standards; purple styelarms. 'Gubijin' X unknown (mixed JI pollen). Draycott 2011. Translation: Light of the night town.

| From Draycott Gardens catalog, 2016: YORU NO AKARI (Hiroshi Shimizu, 2011) 38" M. This rose over a cream base is darker and shorter than “Yasha” and proved to be more striking in the garden. The stalk is also higher branched. I love how the color changes as the flower continues to open and expand. The deep wine eyelash pattern extends almost to the edge of the fall. The foliage on this plant has the deep purple base. The name means “Light of the Night Town”. |
