Triploid Tall Bearded Species?

Several species have been counted as 44 chromosomes, and show limited is any fertility reproducing mainly vegetatively. These triploids tend to be extremely vigorous. They present interesting questions; Are the the result of a 40 chromosome species crossing with a 48 chromosome species? If so What species are involved? Each of the three below presumanbly would have had different tetraploid parents but all could have the same 440 chromosome parent, perhaps Iris lutescens?
